can we make a solar pannel in home?

admin on July 16th, 2010

Yes indeed. Residential solar home kits have everything you need to create an energy efficient solar powered home. You’ can locate panels and cells that are easy to install, as well as fans, heaters and air conditioners to maintain your home temperature from a number of sources. I have provided a few cotnacts for you below to get you started.

how do you make a solar pannel?

admin on July 13th, 2010

A Solar panel is a flat collection of solar cells or solar thermal collectors used for converting solar energy into electricity or heat. The term solar panel can be applied to either solar hot water panels (usually used for providing domestic hot water) or solar photovoltaic panels (providing electricity).

In 1839, during the Industrial Revolution, Henri Becquerel discovered the photovoltaic effect, which explains how electricity can be generated from sunlight. He claimed that "shining light on an electrode submerged in a conductive solution would create an electric current."[1]. However, despite extensive research and developments after this discovery, photovoltaic power continued to be very inefficient. As such, photovoltaic cells were used mainly for the purposes of measuring light. Over 100 years later, in 1941, Russell Ohl invented the solar cell, following the invention of the transistor.

Solar photovoltaic panels are frequently applied in satellite power. However, costs of production have been reduced in recent years for more widespread use through production and technological advances. For example, single crystal Si solar cells have largely been replaced by less expensive multicrystalline silicon solar cells, and thin film silicon solar cells have also been developed recently at lower costs of production yet (see Solar Cell). Although they are reduced in energy conversion efficiency from single crystalline Si wafers, they are also much easier to produce at comparably lower costs.

I’m trying to make this car. It is a little thing…sort of like a remote controlled car…except without the remote…it’s got to be aerodynamic it MUST be good looking MUST be VERY fast and MUST be adaptable(solar pannel must be able to rotate or move to the sun) any ideas on what shape to make it how to make it move faster or how to make it look better?

Yes, flat and wide. Each year there is a contest to race solar cars across the US. Go look at the various designs and emulate them. They are all designed to have a large surface area and be very aerodynamic. Kind of like a large skateboard.

Will switching on the calculator and holding the solar pannel to the sunlight charge the battery?

No u dont have to do all this…. it will charge everything a light source is around.

How to make a homemade solar panel?

We have 50$ for a science project, and we deciedid to make a functional solar pannel. How to do this?

Hmm, I answered a very similar question to this one a little bit ago "How can i build a solar panel?". It was asked a few hours after your question, though.

Anyway, I will take my response from that question and tailor it to your needs (the other question concerned a small solar car to be entered in a science fair).

So, if you want to build your own solar panel that looks like what you see on buildings, etc, you will probably need to be a multi-millionaire. Here is a quote from the first link in my sources list:

"The high-efficiency solar cells you can buy at Radio Shack and other stores are made from highly processed silicon, and require huge factories, high temperatures, vacuum equipment, and lots of money."

But fortunately for you, there is a cheap way to make a solar panel yourself (see link). I love the scitoys website, but I am not quite familiar with this particular experiment. After glancing over it a bit, I would say not to expect any appreciable power out of this panel (so as the site says, no lighting up any bulbs).

But, you should be able to measure the voltage output easily with a voltmeter and be able to detect different voltages at different levels of sunlight. Also, you can probably improve on the design.

Good luck…

Oh, and the answer before me by eyedontevatrick. If you want to save a question to look at later you can use the Add to Watchlist feature or the Star feature. Check it out.

moreso companies that deal with it ,their prices and addresses

try these sights they might help

i am moving into a new house and there is a solar panel and a condenser boiler!

the solar pannel only heats the water but i thought that was the point of having a condenser boiler?
i thought condenser boilers heated up the water as you turned on the tap?
so how does the solar panel do anything?
shouldn’t the solar panel just generate electricity in general, not just restricted to the hot water?

You will probably find that the solar panel only heats the water, you need quite a big solar panel set to work the electricity, a condensing boiler means the boiler is ‘a’ rated for efficiency because of the way it uses fuel, but combination, regular or system boilers are all different, but all condense, you are confusing condensing boiler with combination boiler. The solar panel heats the water, the boiler backs it up if the water is not hot enough, it is a good, efficient and expensive system.

Why do some have a battery and a solar pannel?

How much voltage can a solar strip on a calculator generate?

Thanks

depending on the type of calculator
im guessing its a small calculator if its running on solar power
well
the voltage needed to power up a calculator is maybe 1.5v or less
so that tells you how much a your strip would give you
it all depends on its size too

some calculators have it just to make better use of energy
keep you from having to buy extra batteries
ur batteries wont die as quickly

I live in Hawaii and the cost of living is very high. I was wondering if I could save a bundle of money installing solar pannels for electricity instead of paying a monthly bill. I know it costs a lot of money to install solar pannels but in the long run inflation will just raise your bills like crazy. I heard in the mainland the cost of living is way cheaper and I am planning to move up there but will installing a solar pannel save me a lot of money if I live in the mainland?

Solar saves money over a long period of time, if at all. If you plan to move soon, then it’s not likely you will get your money back from installing a solar system of any kind.

If you are in Honolulu, a solar water heater will pay for itself in 4 years, assuming it replaces an electric. Your electric rates are about 15 to 20 cents per kWh. If you’re in rural Molokai and paying 50 cents, the payback will be faster. Try walking your neighborhood (or just use Google map, satellite view), and you’ll probably see that about half the houses have solar.

For solar electric, the case is less certain. Call a local solar company to get a quote. It will definitely take longer to pay back than solar hot water. Hawaii gets a lot of sun, but it also has a lot of scattered clouds, so the average sun per day is really no better than my part of California.

Whether solar saves money on the mainland totally depends on the local incentives. Arizona and Colorado have fantastic incentives. California’s incentives are rapidly declining, but electricity is expensive here, so solar still makes sense in many cases. We have panels on our roof.

Solar pannel related question?

admin on June 17th, 2010

The building in which i am a service engineer has 10 solar pannels on the roof that are aapproxamitley two years old when inspecting the outside of the unit i noticed that the black skin has rust corrosion blemishes in the membrane what affect is this likely to have on the performance of the solar pannels will they be faulty when the summer comes.

they dont just work in the summer, they work all year round they are just more efficient in the summer.
yes i think this may have an effect, it won’t be so efficient, they should contact the installer to get these replaced byt the manufactuer
