I need the answers like a comparison between them…

There isn’t really an advantage. It depends on how much energy it can save and how big a solar panel is. The best would be having both. You can’t really compare them because one saves energy, and the other makes energy.

Everyday, the sunlight that shines on the earth has enough energy to power the whole world. But solar panels cost a lot of money, and it has to be in a place where the sun can shine on it a lot.

Advantages :
1. Cheap,
2. Only installation cost (maintenance cost is too low to mention)
3. Environment friendly (no pollution at all, green energy)
4. Renewable energy

Disadvantages :
1. No sun, no power (rainy days, cloudy days)
2. Power generation per unit surface area is low. To power a house completely by a solar panel, the surface area of the panel required would be 8-10 times of that of the house.

Will rate the best answer thank’s.

The only advantage of solar energy is it allows those who champion it to feel "superior" to those who don’t.

The main disadvantages of solar energy are its unsustainable subsidy costs and poor reliability.

Solar generating currently receives $24.30 per megawatt-hour (mWh) in subsidies. Natural gas electricity generating receives $0.25 per mWh in subsidies; coal electricity generating receives $0.45 per mWh in subsidies. If the subsidies were reduced to $0.70 per mWh solar generating would be history.

Solar generating is only productive for approximately 8 hours a day – or less. Electricity can’t be stored in tanks like oil or natural gas. Batteries are required for storing electricity and they are expensive, wear out and require replacement and can, under the right conditions, suffer a catastrophic failure by exploding.

I have to do my Science work for Presentation tomorrow, Please help!

Advantages:
It’s green energy, no pollution like fossil fuels
It doesn’t deplete
It doesn’t require any drilling
Once set solar panels require little maintenance
It takes advantage of the largest source of energy known in the solar system.
Biggest Advantage: IT DOESN’T COST $4 A FREAKING GALLON.
Disadvantages:
Current solar technology is years behind where it should be
It is not yet a practical replacement for fossil fuel
Terrestrial solar panels only work at daytime.

need three advantages and and three disadvantages for using solar energy

Advantages:

1. Green- no toxic emissions at all
2. Perpetual resouce- will ALWAYS be there unlike fossil fuels.
3. Can be used anywhere in the world

Disadvantages

1. Sun is part of weather which is unpredictable
2. Expensive- need solar panels which are pricy
3. Can’t operate at night

Hope this helps :)

I’ve got a major science assignment – can’t find any info on SOLAR ENERGY…..
I need a description of it and how it is useful in society.
Research being done today of solar energy to make it more practical.
AND advantages and disadvantages of solar energy.

Some good websites would be greatly appreciated……. Thanks
can anyone find some URL’s

Here are a few links to help you on your way =)

a little assistance who be great

Advantages:
- Works the same in all climates.
- More environmentally friendly.
- Produces helium.
- The technology could have other useful applications.

Disadvantages:
- There are some engineering details that haven’t been fully worked out yet.
- More expensive, at least with foreseeable technology.
- Uses a more limited energy source.

and can solar energy be used in the winter??

It uses the suns energy without giving off carbon emissions. It is a self sufficient system using low maintenance. The suns rays penetrate the clouds even in winter usually 8hrs a day at 36,000,000 mtrs per sec.

NO TROLLING .I WILL REPORT IF I GET FUNNY ANSWERS .I AM DESPERATE N NEED AN ANSWER SOON.

With solar energy it is a renewable source… This means that it will never run out… As well as this you do not need anything special other than a solar panel for it to work, unlike wind you do not need a turbine… So long as you have some sunlight then it will work… And for the new types of water heating solar panels you do not even need sunlight… Just infra-red radiation…
